Action to secure signatures for petitions for CCTVs in slaughter factories in NSW.

Shock resonated around the world this weekend after Animal Liberation exposed abhorrent acts of animal abuse at Hawkesbury Valley Abattoir.

The footage, shown on ABC's Lateline on Thursday, alerted the Australian public to the fact that this kind of abuse is happening right on our own soil and needs to be eliminated. The mandatory monitoring of abattoirs across the country by CCTV surveillance will enable authorities to audit a few days of randomly selected footage from each month and ensure places like the Hawkesbury Valley Abattoir are no longer self-regulating. Closer scrutiny of the actions taking place inside these slaughterhouses is needed NOW.

Join Animal Liberation volunteers this Thursday, 16 February (night) and Saturday, 18 February (morning) as we collect signatures from members of the public, pressuring the Parliament of NSW to mandate CCTV in slaughterhouses.

When: Thursday, 5pm-7pm
Where: Outside Broadway Shopping Centre, Bay Street entrance.

When: Saturday, 10am-12pm
Where: Pitt Street Mall, Market Street end near Food Court entrance.

For more details or enquiries, please contact Phillip at burritoparty@gmail.com

For those who can't attend, the petition can be downloaded and printed here:
