Is there an idiot's guide to the above? It appears that we have been eating meat biproducts by accident as they are disguised as E numbers etc.

Has there been any representation for formal labelling for both meat biproducts and identification of products from ritually slaughtered animals?

There is very little to go by. Things are often labelled 'Natural Flavour' which could be anything from artichoke leaves to squashed snails.

There is even no legal definition of the term 'vegetarian' as yet so a company can call a product as such but still contain parts of a slaughtered animal and there is no legal recourse.

Best to read labels and interpret as best you can - or stick to fresh produce!
