Dear Members and Supporters,
Against Animal Cruelty Tasmania (AACT) is involved in a joint
campaign with several other organisations to end duck-shooting in
Tasmania. Tasmania remains the only State intending to hold a
season this year, as was the case last year.
Duck shooting has never been permitted in the ACT and Western Australia, New South Wales and Queensland have all implemented bans. Victoria and South Australia have cancelled the 2008 season based on current adverse climatic conditions and low waterbird numbers.
The campaign to bring an end to duck-shooting in Tasmania is in full
swing. The native ducks need your help more than ever at a time
when they are under severe stress from the drought, and they have the threat of an open season looming on them. Please give a few minutes of your time to help stop this deadly assault on beautiful innocent native waterbirds.
