Hi all, Just wondering if anyone knows if there is a vegetarian group (like the Macarthur group) in the Hawkesbury or Penrith areas? My hubby, daughter and myself feel pretty isolated from other vegetarians out here! Thanks in advance.

I'm still around! Sorry, haven't been on the forum for a while...

Myself and my hubby and daughter are all vegetarians. So sounds like we have 5 in the "almost-a-group so far... (lisa, rjm, me, hubby, and our daughter.)

I'll have to check out if Niche Nosh Cafe at Katoomba is still open, maybe we can organise a get-together there sometime?

It is a shame there's no vegetarian restaurants round this way. There is a thai restaurant at North Richmond with veg options which is reasonably priced, and delicious food and good service...

The only other option I know is Fountain Vegetarian at Bella Vista (Norwest.) Fantastic food, good service, bit pricey though. Although I think they have a banquet menu that's not too bad. They have a website if you wanted to check them out (do a google search for Foutain Vegetarian Bella Vista.)

You can contact the Natural Health Society on 02 4721 5068 to see if they have some contacts or leads, as the NHS office is at Suite 28, 541 High Street, Penrith (Skipton's Arcade - upstairs - near 'Spotlight').

Well, update!

My mum has been vegetarian for about 2-3 months! Very Happy

And I've been vegan for just over 4 months.

Sounds like we could definitely get something together. Very Happy

Oh, by the way...

If you guys are in / or close to Penrith, would you be interesting in being part a group that does fundraising for Animal Liberation?

I went to my first Animal Liberation meeting at Parramatta last night and the girl in charge told me about a lady that lives in Penrith and has been trying to find other people in the area would would be interested in forming the above mentioned group.

I talked to her on the phone today and we both gave ideas and thought it would be great if we had a stall at local things, like Penrith Sunday (and Wednesday) Market and gave out pamphlets, sold things like cakes etc and even maybe do garage sales and the money that is given goes to Animal Liberation. Very Happy

Dolores (the lady in Penrith) doesn't have the internet, so I told her that I'd see if there any other people in this area that may like the idea of being part of it... as just the 2 of us isn't that many. Laughing

Let me know!

To Lisathevegetarian and rjm,

Brilliant news, a new vegetarian cafe has opened in Richmond which is probably only about 20 minutes or so from you.

Wanted to see if you'd be interested in meeting there at some stage for a cuppa and snack, be great to meet you both.

If you're interested either reply here or send me a PM (private message.) Don't include your phone numbers in the forum section, private message is ok for that. Otherwise let me know you're interested and I'll PM you with my number.

Hope to hear from you both. I have found another vegetarian, she's a teacher at my daughter's school, so I shall check with her if she'd be interested in getting together too.
