John McDougall MD recently authored a bill in the California legislature, Senate Bill 380. This bill would require all medical doctors in the state of California to include a seven-hour course on nutrition as part of their legally-mandated continuing medical education.
The bill was strongly opposed by the California Medical Association, and other doctors' groups, on the grounds that the legislature should not be "telling doctors how to practice medicine."
