We know you share our vision for a world free from animal abuse. Please accept this personal invitation to become an Animals Australia Frontliner and join a unique team that is underpinning our critical investigations to expose and end animal cruelty.

The scale of effort demanded from us this year has left few moments to pause and reflect on what we have achieved. But there is no doubt that outcomes from our live export investigations have been far reaching, not only in a direct impact on the live export trade, but in the hearts and minds of everyday Australians who, through our work, have awoken to the plight of animals in need.

Not a day goes by that I am not reminded of the scale and depth of suffering I witnessed during our investigation in Indonesia. The terrified look in animals' eyes; the harrowing bellows of pain from animals whose tails were twisted and broken; the distress of one frightened steer who regained his feet and stumbled desperately toward me after slaughtermen had cut his throat several times... Were it not for our cameras, these nightly abuses would have continued unchallenged.

Wherever there are industries that profit from the abuse of animals; wherever the eyes of the public aren't looking; animals are at great risk. And wealthy industries like the live export trade would prefer the abuse they are responsible for be kept out of sight and out of mind.

Though our team may only be small, and our funds limited, we have something they fear — a commitment to exposing the truth, and the support of people like you who are as determined as we are to achieve justice for animals. This is why Animals Australia and its members are increasingly recognised by cruel animal industries as a threat to their business. Already our investigations have resulted in a permanent ban on live sheep exports to Egypt; the closure of a number of atrocious slaughterhouses in Jordan and Indonesia; a suspension of the trade to Indonesia; and intense public pressure to end the trade. Fear of where our cameras will be aimed next has also led to improvements in the way animals are handled in some destinations.

The scale of public opposition to live animal exports is forcing the Gillard government to introduce new regulatory controls which will significantly impact on the operation of the trade. But the failure of these regulations to mandate that Australian animals must be stunned unconscious before they are slaughtered means that animals will continue to suffer prolonged and agonising deaths in importing countries. As a result, our critical investigations, which have brought this trade to the brink of extinction, must continue — as must our lobbying efforts and public awareness campaigns to expose and end other cruel animal industries.

It is because of this great need that I'm extending to you a personal invitation to join our Frontliners — a special group of Animals Australia members whose monthly support underpins our daily work on behalf of animals. It is this regular, reliable support that enables us to sustain long term campaigns, and to free up our experienced campaigners to focus on what they do best — representing animals in need.

By joining this cherished group of Animals Australia supporters, you will help us to continue to send our investigators to where animals need us most. From Indonesian slaughterhouses to Australian factory farms — we've shown that exposing injustice is the key to creating real and lasting change for animals.
