Structure

The Australian Vegetarian Society (NSW) is a not-for-profit association incorporated under the NSW Office of Fair Trading (Inc. No. Y1466322) and is registered with the Australian Business Register (ABN 11 605 533 718).

The Product Acceptance Program

The Product Acceptance Program is open to companies which manufacture either food products and/or other vegetarian products (such as cosmetics, household products and clothes) and consists of two parts:

i) Licensing of the Society's symbol

ii) Corporate Membership of the Society

a. Licensing of the Society's symbol

The Society will grant use of its symbol to manufacturers of food and other products which meet its standards. Manufacturers whose products meet the Society's standards will be entitled to use of the Society's symbol on labelling, advertising and promotional material (subject to guidelines). It also entitles manufacturers to premium listing on the Society's website. Companies will be charged an annual licensing fee for the use of the Society's symbol.

b. Corporate Membership

Corporate Membership is open to those companies which only manufacture products that meet the standards of the Society. If a company chooses to become a Corporate Member of the Society it will be charged an additional annual Corporate Membership fee.

How to Join the Product Acceptance Program

a. The company applies to the Society

b. The company completes and returns the application form for acceptance into the Program - the licensing of the Society's symbol and/or Corporate Membership of the Society. Applicants must complete and sign a compliance assurance form in respect of each product on the licensing application form.

c. The Society will confirm in writing as to whether the application has been accepted. In the case of an application being accepted, the Society will invoice the applicant for the appropriate amounts for licensing fee(s) and/or Corporate Membership.

d. The applicant remits a signed contract, as well as symbol licensing fee(s) and/or Corporate Membership fee to the Society.

e. The Society will then supply official permission to use its symbol as well as an image of the symbol itself.
